"Dancetime on 4th" is a venue for mostly live music to dance to most evenings during the week. It is alcohol free, smoke free and open to all ages and styles of dance. We are looking for bands that enjoy playing variety, polka, swing, country, international, and more. We encourage bands to schedule recurring dances, build the following and enjoy the rewards. We encourage the bands to inquire about availability, to help with the promotion, and create a dance/music experience that is creative and joyful for everyone.
Dancetime is a lovely space of 2500 square foot of dance floor with comfortable chairs against the wall. The space lends itself to concert as well as dancing as it also has a 90-seat balcony overlooking the dance hall.
There is an eight-inch riser for the band and a baby grand piano. There is a simple sound system that supports lapel microphone or wireless microphones. Acoustics are terrific because of the high ceiling, the wall covering and the size of the building. It takes very little amplification to create a terrific sound in the space. Please, never tooooo loud!
Lighting currently is minimal, but sufficient. Later, there will be spots for the band area. Electricity is minimal but adequate.
Access is through the street door, with 28 steps up. There is a chair lift along those stairs, capable of lifting over 400 lbs. It is slow but effective.
Our agreement with the Odd Fellows is that one third of each admission is a donation to the Odd Fellows, one third goes to the band and one third to Dance! LLC. The band is encouraged to set the price for the event accordingly. Remember, admission to a movie is $12 per person. This is live music and a lovely space in which to enjoy it! Government, the bar, or anyone else does not cover the overhead in this situation.
